Evaluation Question 3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I also done some audio vox poxs to gain an insight of what people thought about our final ancillary texts and our music video. The results are shown below:

There were praises from this interviewee who believed we targeted the target audience well through the CD album cover. However they thought the colours clashed on the front cover and our intentions to this was to represent the song as it was quite depressing therefore depicted this in the album work. They liked the image on the magazine advert however it was different to the style of the album work. In the video, this interviewee liked the use of camera angles and found the ending rather interesting however the negative aspects was that the fire scene was too dark.

Another interviewee also gave some feedback. They liked the fact the lyrics represented on the images on the CD suited well with the message being portrayed 'Still Not Broken'. My group and I done this to ensure everything flows and the audience get the correct message. However they would have liked to see more bright colours however if we done this it would not adhere to typical conventions of R&B culture which is associated with dark colours. They found the magazine attractive and eye catching however if we were to make improvements they would have liked to see more pictures. This audience linked the idea related back to Andrew Goodwin's Theory by commenting on the scene where our artist writes on the mirror in lipstick and is singing at the same time.

This interviewee liked seeing typical conventions such as the artist on the front cover. They believed it worked well to the title of the song however to improve they would have liked to see bright colours. but again if we done this it would not adhere to typical conventions of R&B culture which is associated with dark colours. They found the magazine very eye catching and bold however they would have liked to see more text as the image took up too much space. In the music video they enjoyed the narrative and the different angles within each scene. However they would have liked to see more dancing (performanced based video) but we can argue the reason we did not do this was due to the song which connotes different messages.

This interviewee found the CD album cover very direct and engaging to the audience however they would have liked to see more colour. In the magazine advert, they found the product sharp, stylish and would be something they would like to buy. In the video, they liked the creativity in the video however the downside was that the interviewee did not realise it was a different guy in the end and had to watch it a several times.

After doing audio vox pox's I also done some further research by sending out a questionnaire with similar questions to a sample of 20. This questionnaire included open and close ended questions.

Questionnaire :

After carrying out this questionnaire, I collected data by making graphs. Here are the results of my audience feedback:

From these results, I can tell the target audience was between 16-18 which can have similarities to the target audience of our ancillary products and music video.

Looking at the results from this graph, the majority liked the CD album work. The reason for this is that my group and I constructed an album with typical features therefore this could be a reason why the audience related to this.

From this research, I intended to ask the audience what they found pessimistic about the CD album work. The majority said  that the colours did not work well together. Therefore I learnt, if i was to produce the CD album again, I would add brighter colours.

For the magazine advert, many people liked the message which was sent out from the magazine and following that, they also liked the colours. From these results, I learnt that it is vital to maintain features which are appealing to the audience.

Asking about the negative aspects of the magazine resulted in many people finding the magazine advert not flowing well with the CD album work. From this audience feedback I learnt that to give a continuous feel I must ensure all products flow well together.

The whole sample (20) said that they would go and watch the music video after looking at the magazine advert and the CD album. This was successful as I learnt that all products linked in some way and we encouraged people to go view the video.

There was many things the audience enjoyed about the music video. The narrative, stop motion and camera angles was what the audience enjoyed the most.

In the questionnaire, I believe it was important to ask about the negative aspects of the music video aswell and the majority said lighting and the story line. To improve I learnt that it is significant to look at every scene in the video in depth and make sure lighting and mise en scene is consistent throughout.

From this question, majority said they would see our music video on KISS and I developed upon this from my research and planning which I also saw our video being on KISS. Therefore I learnt that many music channels vary in different genres however our music video was the most well suited to be on KISS.
