Production Log
Today we took potential pictures for our CD album cover and Magazine cover in central London. I believe some pictures will be suitable for the ancillary text. We will now start constructing the CD cover first followed by the magazine cover. This chosen area was perfect because it allowed us to represent where the Artist is from and also target a wider audience as they would recognise the area.

Camera Movement/Angle Test- Experimental Footage For The First 18 Seconds
This was a footage we shot in class to get an insight how our first 18 seconds will look when we shoot it. This allowed us to try out the equipment and test out the camera angle and movement which will be required. This was very effective because when shooting we knew exactly what we were doing. We will shoot many of these pre-scenes as we believe they were extremely helpful.

Plans/Designs For Ancillary Texts
CD FRONT COVER DESIGNS
CD Front Cover Design 1:
This is our first idea for our CD cover. We tried to emphasise on the album name; 'Still Not Broken' by portraying the artist on one side broken however on the other side she is complete. The message indicated to the audience with this cover could be how individuals in relationships tend to go through a lot and at some point when the relationship ends, the female persona is usually half broken and not complete without her partner.
CD Front Cover Design 2:
This was our second design of the CD front cover. This drawing shows that she is still not fully broken. This is an close up of her face and if this design is chosen we will use crack effects to make it look more effective and for the cover to stand out to the audience.
CD INLAY DESIGNS
CD Inlay Design 1
This design was created from the inlay of Bruno Mars' Doowoops and Hooligans album shown above. The reason for choosing this as one of our final inlays was because it portrays a number of feelings and emotions which relates to our protagonist who is going through a mixed number of feelings and emotions. By using the cartoon effect, we thought it would portray positive thoughts instead of having negative emotions throughout.
CD Inlay Design 2
This was the third design for the inlay. This shows her fragmented state of mind and that she is shattered like a glass. However we will not be using this design as it does not connote a clear message to the audience and again we want something positive and not base it all on negative emotions.
CD BACK COVER DESIGNS
MAGAZINE IDEAS:
Chosen Design:
This is our chosen design for our Magazine advert where we see the Artist by a phone box. This is how our magazine advert will roughly look however there are a few details missing such as the artist name and the number one single.

CD Inlay Design 2
This was another design for the inlay. This is just a very simple design of the artist looking directly at the camera. however this can be criticised because audiences look for something that appeals to them and is eye catching. This design shows Sandhya as a proud woman and this can also connote her success.
CD Inlay Design 3
This was the third design for the inlay. This shows her fragmented state of mind and that she is shattered like a glass. However we will not be using this design as it does not connote a clear message to the audience and again we want something positive and not base it all on negative emotions.
CD BACK COVER DESIGNS
We created a design for the CD back cover from using knowledge of pre-existing back album inserts. Our design shows typical conventions that buyers would want to see on a back cover such as : a bar-code, a track list, the artists' name, album name, website, timings of the songs. This design was inspired from an insert we found on the internet.

Decided Performers For Music Video
We decided to keep Sandhya Acharya as our main female in the video. Due to changing out narrative we got rid of Naiha Badiani as we felt the song didn't relate to cheating therefore it would not be accurate in terms of the song if we based the video on cheating. However we kept Sandhya who is a reliable individual therefore we believe she will be best for the female role.
We decided to keep Zein as the main male in the video. We came to this decision as he is also reliable and will work well with Sandhya to produce successful scenes. He is also aware of the camera skill and conventions needed in a music video based upon the genre.
After a debating discussion we decided to use Nikhil Fatiana instead of Haseeb Majeed. The reason for this is that Haseeb was unreliable and we believed that Nikhil was more easy to get in touch with and he is on schedule with things. We also thought Nikhil would be better suited for the role in the beginning and end scenes.

Potential Performers For Music Video
Haseeb Majeed will be taking part in the music video as the second guy who is at the beginning and end of the video where we see the back of him. He is going to be in the scene of the shopping center and will use him again if needed. We originally decided to use him as the main male in the video however another member suited the role better with the girl.
Zein Gowie is our main guy in the video. He suits the role we have set him. He is good at acting and also has the look we are going for. He will be in the video throughout. Zein has an insight into different music genres and stereotypes which are expected in particular songs therefore we believe Zein will play a perfect role with excellent acting skills.
Naiha Badiani is possibly going to be another female in the video who is the female who the male cheats on with. She would play a little role in the video however will be in a few scenes.

Now I have looked at possible locations and props for our music video. I will now decide the potential performers for our music video and from this we will make a group decision on our final performers who we think are best suited for each role in our video.

Production Log
We have now searched into the generic codes and conventions we will need for our video and now we will be making an equipment list that will be necessary for us during shooting.
Generic Codes & Conventions
Generic Codes of R&B/ Pop
Technical Codes:
Technical Codes:
- There will be quite a few two shots throughout the video which makes it clear to the audience what the video is based on.
- Flashbacks will be used to show memories of the couple and also reinforce the lyrics of the song.
- Over the shoulder shot will be used at the beginning and the end of the video.
- There will be connections made with Sandhya & Zein to show their love- hugging, holding hands is usually what is shown in this specific genre.
Generic Codes:
- The mise en scene have many typical stereotypes which audiences expect to see when they know the genre of the song such as for R&B there might be Jewellery such as expensive rings.
- However in our music video we will possibly use stereotypes of pop and R&B genres such as have jewellery but very basic jewellery.
- The clothing will be very simple and will look quite sophisticated. For our female artist, we will probably have her wearing a simple dress with tights and boots or heels, leather jacket, and possibly a scarf. However for the males will be very casual. For example, jeans and a jumper. We will not use hoodies because this may give out the wrong message for the genre of our chosen song.
- To further enhance our message of the song and to represent the character effectively we will use dark colors and flashbacks will be in black and white. This can show the pessimistic/sad feelings of our female artist.
- Using bright colors may be avoided because our song is quite sad therefore will not link with our song well.

Production Log
Today we sat down as a group and decided on a better storyboard by adding detailed information about technical codes, camera movement and camera angle.
Reasons For Not Using Storyboard For Video (1)
We done a brief storyboard for the narrative however after showing this to our teacher, we were told it was very simple and not complete. Therefore we will have to add more constructive detail to make the storyboard more specific so we as a group and the audience know exactly what is going on.

Production Log
We have now decided on a final narrative after many drafts and today we started the storyboard. For the next few days we will be working to accomplish a detailed storyboard.
Reasons For Not Using Ideas From Narrative Breakdown 2
- Version 2 of the narrative was quite basic however it improved from the first narrative which was without any detail. This version was again quite simple and did not have in depth information.
- Did not include all shot and frame types in detail.
- Did not clearly say what editing techniques were going to be used.
- The story line did not link very well therefore decided to improve the narrative to a better standard.

Reasons For Not Using Ideas From Narrative Breakdown 1
- This was our first draft of what we thought the video would look like however we realised it didnt suit the theme of our chosen track.
- Also it seems a bit boring and nothing interesting is happening in the video
- Plan was too simple without any detail of lighting, camera or mise en scene.

Analysis Of Lyrics
Lyrical Analysis
‘Tell me you’re sorry’ is single sung and performed by Sandhya Acharya, an upcoming R&B artist. The song reflects the view that the ‘love’ is fading away thus the relationship is not what it seemed to be.
The opening verse in the song instantly reassures it is a love song and this can be seen through the song laid out in a form of a love letter. ‘Dear you, you really messed it up this time’ connotes the singer is talking about a relationship with a male and this can adhere R&B stereotypes as these videos are usually focused on male and female relationships. The repetition of ‘you’ emphasises who the song is aimed at. Already from the first few lines of the verse, many audience members can relate to the words of the lyrics due to personal experiences. ‘Mate you’re not worth the wait’ suggests that she was waiting for the right guy to come into her life and when he did she realised he was not the right one for her. ‘I won’t forgive or forget’ shows that the audience is gradually developing an understanding of the male protagonist was unfaithful towards her. This can show conventional stereotypes of R&B videos which are usually based around this topic. Furthermore, the artist can show a typical view of how women deal with men in a relationship. For example, ‘Here I go explaining to you, what you’ve done why it was wrong’ can highlight that she has perhaps done this more than once and it reinforces stereotypes of men that they’re always in the ‘wrong’.
The chorus makes the reader reinforce the meaning of the song as it is a part that is memorable. The beginning line of the chorus: ‘I don’t care, what you say’ implies that she actually does care and this is shown through the alternate tonal shifts, her emotions are conflicting. The thought of love is one that leaves you unsure and confused towards your emotions. There is also emotive language used in ‘you’re under my skin and I swear I will never let you back in’ which can show she still has a sense of passion for him but it is not enough for him to accept. The lyrics also show that the artist believes that in many relationships it is usually the male character that is in the wrong. The male character and her feelings towards him have left her physically and mentally insecure. This is shown in ‘You don’t deserve me you’re not worth this I won’t make amends’. The representation of Sandhya we see in this chorus reflects the stereotypical representation of relationships in R&B music videos. It can also be argued that she maybe actually wants to be with him. This is shown in the repetition of the line ‘Tell me you’re sorry write me you’re sorry’ which makes the audience remember this part of the song. The emphasis of the word ‘sorry’ indicates that an apology, just being a simple word can change everything in a relationship. In a form, this doesn’t only relate to love relationships between a male and female but in fact relates to a wider audience.
In the next verse, is the artist signifying herself through the line ‘I see you writing on the envelope dear me it reads’ which can show she is not going to open her feelings but it signifies her body as the letter signifies her emotions inside. We also hear from Sandhya in this verse that she is physically broken through the emotive language: ‘You’ve broken me’. In the middle 8, there is a conventional representation shown of female artists where they want to ‘Plan my revenge but you aint worth my time’. This indicates two different meanings. Firstly it can convey that she is moving on however it can also show she is scared to face him. She says ‘Burning the pictures all of the letters’ which is a personification of herself that connotes she is getting rid of physical memories in order to disguise her emotions. To conclude, the lyrics of the song give a representation of stereotypical teenage girls’ emotions when it comes to dealing with the hardship of a relationship.

Lyrics of 'Tell Me Your Sorry'
[Verse 1]
Dear you, you really messed it up this time
Mate you’re not worth the wait
I won’t forgive or forget
Here I go explaining to you what you’ve done why it was wrong
I’m sorry I have a heart but now it’s your turn to pay
[Chorus]
I don’t care, what you say
You’re under my skin and I can swear I will never let you back in
You don’t deserve me you’re not worth this I won’t make amends
Baby promise this and tell me what I wanna hear
Tell me you’re sorry write me you’re sorry
Tell me you’re sorry write me you’re sorry
[Verse 2]
I see your writing on the envelope dear me it reads
You’ve broken me I’ve made mistakes but I’m foolishly in love with you
Do you know when you’re in love you promise that person your heart
[Chorus]
I don’t care, what you say
Your under my skin and I can swear I will never let you back in
You don’t deserve me you’re not worth this I won’t make amends
Baby promise this and tell me what I wanna hear
Tell me your sorry write me you’re sorry
Tell me your sorry write me you’re sorry
[Middle 8]
Planned my revenge but you ain’t worth my time
Trying to figure out why
Why me what did I do I wanna forget all the past
Burning the pictures all of the letters
[Chorus]
I don’t care, what you say
Your under my skin and I can swear I will never let you back in
You don’t deserve me you’re not worth this I won’t make amends
Baby promise this and tell me what I wanna hear

Tell me your sorry write me you’re sorry
I don’t care, what you say
Your under my skin and I can swear I will never let you back in

About Our Chosen Artist- Sandhya Acharya
Sandhya Acharya is just an ordinary teenager who comes from Wembley. She is 17 years old and was born on April 30th 1994. Her interests into the whole music career stems from her father who inspired her from a very young age. Her success is further enhanced through her coming from a singing background. Currently she is a Grade 7 singer and a Grade 4 pianist. Sandhya is an Artist who doesn’t specialise in one genre; she performs and enjoys different types of music. This allows her to target a wider audience as they can get a variety in the music she performs. Her favourite artist is Demi Lovarto as her “voice is amazing and her song writing is inspirational”. She also has a YouTube account where on a regular basis she uploads new singles.
In July 2010, she performed ‘You might need somebody’ by Randy Crawford at Wembley Arena. This was a musical event where many Artists performed. Due to her successful performance, she was then on the cover of The Brent Magazine (July Edition). Furthermore, she performs in many family events in East London. In ‘One World’ she performed with a band called ‘The Opposites’ which are a group of talented musicians who play instruments such as drums, guitars and keyboards. Alongside with their help, she successfully sung ‘Breakeven’ by The Script. This had an optimistic event as she was better known in her area due to people outside of school attending this charity event.
She is part of ‘The Band’ which is known as The Institute Of Contemporary Music’ in Kilburn. In these few hours every week, she writes new songs and rehearses for upcoming gigs. A recent gig The Band performed was in summer 2011 at Gladstone Park which was a festival of music. As a lead singer she sung Jessie J- Price Tag and a song produced by the band.
‘Tell me your sorry’ is the recent song she has posted on many sites. The message of this song can target teenage girls who go through what she is conveying. In the future she plans to record an EP which is an album without being signed. A few songs to come out soon are: ‘Don’t wanna leave you behind’ and Rise up (with an Indian twist).

Research into Music Channels
Music Channels to distribute our final product
MTV
MTV was introduced in 1999 in UK. This music channel shows many videos of different genres such as Hip hop, R&B, Grime and Pop. MTV is a well known music channel worldwide, in places such as United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Kenya. They own a website 'mtv.com' which I believe will be useful for audiences who consume music online. This would be a good streaming website for audiences who like a variety of genres and can also get an insight in music they don't usually listen to. The advantage of this site is that it is an 24hour music and general entertainment channel.
Kiss TV

Kiss TV
Kiss is a music channel which varies in genres such as; R&B, Dance, Pop and Hip Hop. The channel was created by Guy Wingate who was also the creator of the radio station. They are part of Bauer which are a large well known magazine company. This channel would be successful for our product as it would exhibit our genre; R&B and Pop.
4 Music
4 Music is owned by Box Television Company who also own Channel 4. It is a UK based music channel that is part of Bauer. Their music comes in various genres such as Hip Hop, Pop, Dance, R&B and Rock. This channel is free therefore increasing in the number of viewers. The variety between genres allows this channel to target niche and mainstream audiences. This music channel may be the perfect way to distribute our video because they not only target different age groups however vary in the genres they show. They have many similar channels such as E4, More 4 and Film 4.
Up Your Viva
This music channel originally used to be called TMF.
It is not only a music channel however shows many programmes aswell.
This is important in order for the audience to get a variety in different elements.
It was launched in the UK in 2009. This channel is well known for UK Top 40 every week.
They show music videos of many genres such as Pop, R&B and Hip hop.
It is available on free view therefore this channel is free for people to watch.
This would benefit our video as it may get an increased number of viewers.
Channel AKA
This is a British Music Channel which specialises in Urban Hip Hop music. They also have a website for those who missed a video therefore can watch it online. This increases in the audience number. They helped many British Artists become more well known such as Tinie Tempah, N-Dubz and Chipmunk. All these Artists produce R&B/ Hip Hop music however our chosen Artist doesn't. However this channel may not specialise in our genre of the song but it would make our Artist succeed more in her career.
Channels we would not consider for our genre:
Conclusion
After researching into many music channels I believe Kiss TV or Up Your Viva are most likely to distribute our videos to a large audience. Both these channels are UK based which means our Artist has an equal chance to succeed like other UK Artists. Kiss TV, being part of Bauer can lead our song to be published into magazines as they are a well known company for Magazines aswell.

Chosing The Track
Our Group originally researched to find an Artist on 'Unsigned.com'. We found an Artist and A track that we could see a video being produced to however we emailed the Artist and didn't get replies until a long period of time therefore we decided to use a girl named Sandhya Acharya ( friend) to lend us her song. She wrote and sung her own song aswell as produced her own sound track therefore we decided to ask her and she accepted our offer.

Production Log
We decided the questions for the Vox Pox as a group however today I changed some questions as they were questions which would provide very little information, therefore I decided to make a new list of questions which are more open ended.
