Research into Music Channels

Music Channels to distribute our final product


MTV

MTV was introduced in 1999 in UK. This music channel shows many videos of different genres such as Hip hop, R&B, Grime and Pop. MTV is a well known music channel worldwide, in places such as United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Kenya. They own a website 'mtv.com' which I believe will be useful for audiences who consume music online. This would be a good streaming website for audiences who like a variety of genres and can also get an insight in music they don't usually listen to. The advantage of this site is that it is an 24hour music and general entertainment channel. 


Kiss TV

Kiss is a music channel which varies in genres such as; R&B, Dance, Pop and Hip Hop. The channel was created by Guy Wingate who was also the creator of the radio station. They are part of Bauer which are a large well known magazine company. This channel would be successful for our product as it would exhibit our genre; R&B and Pop. 

                         4 Music 

4 Music is owned by Box Television Company who also own Channel 4. It is a UK based music channel that is part of Bauer. Their music comes in various genres such as Hip Hop, Pop, Dance, R&B and Rock. This channel is free therefore increasing in the number of viewers. The variety between genres allows this channel to target niche and mainstream audiences. This music channel may be the perfect way to distribute our video because they not only target different age groups however vary in the genres they show. They have many similar channels such as E4, More 4 and Film 4.

Up Your Viva 

This music channel originally used to be called TMF.

 It is not only a music channel however shows many programmes aswell. 

This is important in order for the audience to get a variety in different elements.

It was launched in the UK in 2009. This channel is well known for UK Top 40 every week. 

They show music videos of many genres such as Pop, R&B and Hip hop.

It is available on free view therefore this channel is free for people to watch.

 This would benefit our video as it may get an increased number of viewers. 

Channel AKA 

This is a British Music Channel which specialises in Urban Hip Hop music. They also have a website for those who missed a video therefore can watch it online. This increases in the audience number. They helped many British Artists become more well known such as Tinie Tempah, N-Dubz and Chipmunk. All these Artists produce R&B/ Hip Hop music however our chosen Artist doesn't. However this channel may not specialise in our genre of the song but it would make our Artist succeed more in her career.

Conclusion  

After researching into many music channels I believe Kiss TV or Up Your Viva are most likely to distribute our videos to a large audience. Both these channels are UK based which means our Artist has an equal chance to succeed like other UK Artists. Kiss TV, being part of Bauer can lead our song to be published into magazines as they are a well known company for Magazines aswell.
